probably the most important city of the Italian Renaissance.
Bursting with art
from the most prolifically creative period in history, it is possible to be
overwhelmed by the choice of things to see.
From the early
frescos of Fra Angelico, at the San Marco convent, to the majestic presence of
Michelangelo's David at the Academia, the range is enormous. The Uffizi gallery
is home to stunning works by Giotto, Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci and Raphael
to name but a few.
Architecturally the Duomo with its dome by Brunelleschi and its
Campanile by Giotto, is a stunning achievement. There are numerous
palazzos and churches built by such famous families as the Medici's,
containing beautiful art treasures.
Florence is a
magnificent city to wander around and never be short of things to
see and do. Florence is 75
minutes drive from Podere Consani.
